Additional Chief Secretary Ravneet Kaur visits Nawanshahr to monitor COVID-19 prevention and wheat procurement arrangements

Additional Chief Secretary Ravneet Kaur reviewed the COVID-19 prevention and wheat procurement arrangements in the Nawanshahr today. She also had a meeting with the district administration and inquired about the coronavirus cases in the district so far and the arrangements made for the prevention of virus.

Disclosing this here today, Deputy Commissioner Vinay Bablani apprised about the condition of COVID-19 in the district and said that out of 22 patients who have come so far, 18 have recovered and gone home while three are undergoing treatment in the isolation ward of District Hospital Nawanshahr. He said that the district administration was constructing a 100 bed isolation center at Nawanshahr District Hospital. Apart from this, arrangements have been made to convert the Panchayati Raj Training Institute at Behram to Covid Care Center.

The Additional Chief Secretary also apprised the gathering about the supply of essential commodities in the district. According to SSP Alka Meena, the police have enlisted the help of 2400 volunteers in addition to 1,500 police personnel to confine people to their homes in view of the lockdown.

Later while inspecting the Dana Mandi Nawanshahr, Deputy Commissioner Vinay Bablani said that 114520 metric tonnes of wheat had been procured in the mandis of the district till last evening out of which 54909 metric tonnes had been lifted. He said that so far Rs.155.84 crore has been paid. Police teams are cooperating for smooth procurement arrangements in the mandis. Also, 19 medical teams have been activated in the mandis.
