Chandigarh, April 9: In a bid to reduce the inconvenience of substance abuse patients due to the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic, the Punjab health department has allowed them to take home detoxification medicine for 21 days.
With this, it will also ensure minimising the visits of drug abuse patients to centres so as to check the transmission of virus which has claimed eight lives and infected 106 people. In a communication sent to civil surgeons, Punjab director of health services stressed upon continuity in the treatment of drug abuse patients. Taking medicine regularly is important and discontinuity can be fatal.
