AAP launches week-long hunger strike to protest scam in scholarships for Dalit students

Ferozepur, June 15

On Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party district team launched a protest with hunger strike at the district headquarters against the alleged irregularities in the post-matric scholarship scheme for Dalit students. The protest will continue for full week from 11 am to late evening 8 pm.

Disclosing this here today former MLA and District President Naresh Kataria and SC Wing District President Advocate Rajneesh Dahiya said that a hunger strike was being organized in every district of Punjab under the leadership of Punjab leadership.

He said the investigation report submitted by senior officer on the alleged post-matric scholarship scam had revealed that the scholarships were given to fake colleges. As a result, genuine private colleges have not received funds and lakhs of Dalit students have been deprived of their right to education.

SC Wing Punjab President Lal Chand Kataruchak has formed district level teams for the hunger strike which will be on duty during the strike in rotation wise in the Ferozepur constituency by the potential candidates, office bearers of different wings, and volunteers. On the first day of the strike, people belonging to Ferozepur city assembly attended.

Disclosing this here today District Secretary Iqbal Singh Dhillon said that on the first day Advocate Rajneesh Dahiya, Harjinder Singh Sidhu, Shanti Gharu, Sukhraj Singh Gora, Dr. Pradeep Rana, Daler Bhullar along with their colleagues were on hunger strike while number of supporters were also present.
