5 Companies that own more brands than you think!

Every day, we come in contact with hundreds of brands, providing thousands of alternatives for the products we use. However, we never think where all these brands are coming from?

Well, the answer is simpler than you think, there aren’t as many companies as there are brands. Here are some of the biggest conglomerates that own some of your most beloved brands. Read on!

Yum!

Working under PepsiCo till 1997, the now independent Yum! owns KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell. With over 50,000 restaurants in over 150 countries, Yum! is a leading restaurant company in serving chicken, pizza, and Mexican-style food.

The company works on a franchise structure, with over 2,000 global franchisees and 1.5 million employees working around the world.

BBK Electronics

The Chinese multinational corporation owns and distributes a wide variety of electronic goods. To know the scale of their operations, you should know that Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme, and the recent IQOO are all owned by BBK.

Started by billionaire Duan Yongping, the company began by selling MP3 and DVD players along with other appliances. They started Oppo in 2004, then Vivo in 2009. Later in 2013, the ex-CEO of Oppo started OnePlus as a subsidiary to Oppo, making it a subsidiary to BBK Electronics.

The latest members of the BBK family are IQOO, and Realme, founded on May 4, 2018, on the National Youth Day in China.

Volkswagen Group

Have you driven a Polo, or a Passat, or a Laura, Audi, SEAT, Bentley, Bugatti, Porche, Lamborghini or Ducatti? They are all, Volkswagen. While most of us see Volkswagen as just a car brand, it is actually a group of 12 brands from seven European countries.

Suited to different levels of luxury, the Volkswagen group has a car for everyone. Similarly, BMW owns Rolls Royce and Mini (the famous Mini Cooper).

Procter & Gamble

You must’ve heard the words ‘P&G’ or seen them on packaging on things of daily use. This is the company that makes Ariel, Tide, Gillette, and Old Spice. Other brands include Pantene, Head & Shoulders, as well as Olay.

The company is even visible in the childcare department, in the form of Pampers diapers. So there is a high chance you are using one of the P&G products on a daily basis, without even knowing it.

Coca-Cola and PepsiCo

The Coca-Cola Company owns brands like Minute Maid, Burn, Fresca, and Georgia Coffee. In total, the Coca-Cola company owns over 500 brands worldwide, with over 800 drink varieties in the United States.

On similar lines, PepsiCo is not just a cold-drink company. Pepsi is just one of the brands. The company owns brands like Quaker, Doritos, Tropicana, two of our favourite snacks, Cheetos and Lay’s.

Anheuser-Busch InBev

Known as ABInBev in short, this is a conglomerate of beer. The three breweries came together after 6 centuries of independent operations.

Coming to what they make, ABInBev brew the Budweiser, Corona, Brahma, Hoegaarden, and Haywards 5000 beers. These being the star products only, there are a total of 32 beers the company brews worldwide.
