A case under the Prisons Act has been registered at the city police station and further investigations are with Pawan Kumar, IO.  As usual, the matter ends with the registration of the case, as so far none of the cases has been solved. According to police, in case of recovery of mobile phones or any other contraband, an FIR is lodged under the Prisons Act, which is a bail able offense. Due to this, they do not get custody of the accused inmates for questioning and can’t question them regarding how they got hold of the contraband. However, the jail staff is on its toes to prevent rampant use of phones in the jail, said a jail official adding that attempt of throwing banned items over the high walls of jail was foiled by the staff on duty.
